UFC Fight Night 183 results: Marcin Tybura rallies for vicious finish of Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy looked like a world-beater for the first round of his UFC Fight Night 183 bout against Marcin Tybura.

But the controversial ex-NFL star often has started strong and then faded in his MMA career, which was never more apparent than in the heavyweight main card opener Saturday in Las Vegas.

Hardy (7-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) gassed just as Tybura was warming up, and that translated into the first finish loss of Hardy’s career. Tybura won by TKO at the 4:31 mark of Round 2.

Hardy, who’s been a hard striker from the outset of his career, threw with both power and precision in the opening round. He mixed his shots to the head and the body and kept his foe at bay with low kicks.

By the second, though, Hardy started to fade, and Tybura landed big, clean overhands and hooks. Tybura was stymied in his takedown attempts in the first round. But in the middle frame, he got a takedown on a second effort after shooting a double. From there, he unleashed a ground assault from side control and Hardy covered up until the fight was waved off.

“That was the plan, for sure. I know in the first round, it was hard to take him to the ground,” Tybura said in his post-fight interview. “I knew I needed to make him tired and then take him down.”

That’s four straight wins for Tybura, who recorded his 14th career finish. Hardy had a two-fight winning streak snapped.

The heavyweight bout opened up the UFC Fight Night 183 main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It streamed on ESPN+.

UFC Fight Night 183 results: Rob Font pummels Marlon Moraes en route to violent TKO

After a year away from the cage, Rob Font returned to the bantamweight picture with a bang Saturday.

At UFC Fight Night 183, Font (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) brutalized former UFC bantamweight title challenger Marlon Moraes en route to a violent TKO at 3:47 of Round 1 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Font’s victory didn’t come easy, however. Prior to his mid-round onslaught, Font was largely controlled for the majority of the fight. Battling through the adversity, Font worked his way up to his feet.

After he ate a combination, Font found the mark with a variety of punches – especially his jab, which stunned Moraes (23-8-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC) multiple times. Moraes absorbed a tremendous amount of damage before referee Marc Goddard stepped in to call off the fight.

Font’s win comes on the heels of a layoff due to an ACL injury suffered against Ricky Simon in December 2019. The victory moves his win streak to three.

As for Moraes, he has now lost two in a row – and three of his past four. Prior to the defeat to Font, Moraes lost in October when he was wheel-kicked by Cory Sandhagen.
