Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has a fight lined up with Dustin Poirier in January, this is what UFC president Dana White is focused on for his sport’s biggest star, not YouTubers.
Mike Tyson recently returned to the boxing world for a pay-per-view exhibition bout opposite fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. YouTube sensation Jake Paul fought on the undercard, knocking out retired NBA star Nate Robinson in the second round. But two fights into his boxing career does not qualify the professional celebrity for a bout with McGregor.
Even before Paul defeated Robinson, he was angling for a future fight opposite McGregor. After he knocked out the NBA retiree, Paul claimed it was his life’s mission to not only fight McGregor, but defeat him.
White says there is “zero chance” the bout will ever happen. It certainly won’t happen under his watch or the UFC banner.
Jake’s brother Logan Paul, also a YouTube celebrity, just inked a deal to fight an exhibition boxing match opposite Floyd Mayweather in February 2021. Despite that, White still insists Jake won’t be facing McGregor.

Since the early days when the sport was anything but a mainstream endeavor, the MMA industry has thrived and survived through various websites, forums and, perhaps most importantly, social-media platforms.
Fighters interact with fans, each other and many more through the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which helps outsiders get a deeper look into the minds of the athletes.
Following Thursday’s Bellator 254 event in Uncasville, Conn., several of the winning and losing fighters, along with their coaches, training partners or family members, took to social media to react to the event or share a message with supporters.
Check out some of those reactions.

It appears Dana White has once again momentarily halted the launch of Zuffa Boxing.
During White’s time on “Fight Island” in October, the UFC president hinted at a boxing match being in the works, claiming that COVID-19 has actually been a blessing for Zuffa Boxing.
However, speaking to TSN on Thursday, White pumped the brakes on any potential plans of a launch, shutting down prior rumors of him working with Claressa Shields, who’s now part of the PFL roster.
“Never did I say that I was doing anything, but I’ve been looking and kicking the tires of boxing for the last couple of years,” White said. “The reason you’ve never seen me do anything is because that’s how screwed up and broken it is. That’s what a mess it is. Yeah, I’m not doing anything anytime soon.”
White, who recently questioned the integrity of boxing after a fight between Floyd Mayweather and YouTube sensation Logan Paul was booked, has been vocal towards the “broken model” of boxing and his intentions of fixing it for over three years now. However, it doesn’t seem like White will be moving into the boxing world anytime soon.
